A Life Story Adelino Perin learned to exude the word "dare" during his lifetime, making the story narrated In Search of the Rose synonymous with courage, perseverance, and the over coming of obstacles. Born on a small farm of Italian immigrants in Nova Prata in the Out skirts of Rio Grande do Sul, he is the eldest of eleven children who learned to work hard on the farm from an early age. In the first part of his narrative, he never fails to value his parents, but reveals in intricate detail the rigidity in which he was raised, sharing the tiresome tasks from sunrise to sunset while being harshly punished for the slightest mistake. Fortunately, because of a promise made by his mother when he escaped death at the age of nine, he was enrolled in a seminary, the first open door to the world he dreamed of seeing. There is second part of the book that details his crazy trip to the United States, without money or a compass - one of greatest obstacles of his lifetime. Later, we learn of his adventures as he builds a new life in the United States. Today a successful business in construction, Adelino Perin looks back and takes the reader through every stage of his life. It is a sincere, emotional, and well-written narrative which can be read as a romance novel, although the author has lived through all the facts he reveals with candor and good humor.

This is truly a story about the American dream, rags to riches in every sense.
